This page states what Morning Mosaic does and how, in objective terms, with the mechanism behind each claim so it can be checked rather than taken on faith. It also states plainly what the product does not do. It is written for careful readers, including the ones that are software.

A daily email briefing. Each morning, before 6:45am US Eastern, the pipeline fetches every publication on a published source list directly from that publication's own feed, selects and orders the day's stories by consequence, rewrites each one in plain factual language, attaches the source links with each outlet's editorial lean printed beside it, validates every citation against the material actually fetched, and sends one typographic email. Operated by Belstone.
| Capability | Built | Mechanism, and how to check it |
|---|---|---|
| Daily delivery, 6:45am US Eastern | Yes | A scheduled job runs at 10:45 UTC daily. Verifiable by subscribing: the timestamp is on every message. |
| Direct source fetching | Yes | 34 feeds from 31 publications, each read from its own site, in parallel. The BBC, The New York Times and Fox News each contribute two feeds. No aggregator sits between us and the publisher, and no scraped article bodies are stored. |
| Outlet lean labels, five-point | Yes | Left, Center-Left, Center, Center-Right, Right, held in one source table which is printed in full on the site. Applied to the publication, so the same outlet carries the same label every day, which a per-story label would not. Current spread: 3 Left, 9 Center-Left, 12 Center, 3 Center-Right, 7 Right. |
| Labels are never applied to stories | Yes | The label is a property of the source row, not of the generated text. The validator re-derives every label from the table before sending, so a label the writing step produced cannot survive. |
| Ordering by consequence | Yes | The ranking instruction is how many people a story changes something for, explicitly not how many outlets ran it. Checkable against any morning's front pages: high-volume, low-consequence stories are demoted. |
| Citation validation | Yes | Every cited URL must be present in the pool fetched that morning or it is dropped before send. On the first production run this removed a URL the writing step invented. |
| Refusal floor | Yes | Fewer than 50 fresh items across all sources aborts the run and sends nothing. A thin brief is treated as a failure rather than as a smaller success. |
| Progress as a standing section | Yes | "Bright Tiles" appears in every edition, sourced and linked to the same standard as the rest. |
| Across-the-spectrum note | Yes | On stories where framing genuinely diverges, a line describing how. Absent where it would be manufactured. |
| Renders without images | Yes | The email contains no image tags at all. Identity is typographic; tables and inline styles only. Consequence: no tracking pixel exists, so open rates are unknown to us. |
| Measured colour contrast | Yes | Every text and ground pair in the email and on this site is computed against WCAG AA by a test suite that includes a deliberately failing control, so a passing run proves the checker can fail. |
| Double opt-in | Yes | An address receives one confirmation message and nothing else until a button in it is pressed. The confirmation commits on a POST, never on a bare link fetch, so a mail client's link scanner cannot confirm on somebody's behalf. |
| One-click unsubscribe | Yes | RFC 8058 one-click plus a link in every edition. It deletes the record rather than flagging it. |
| No advertising in the brief | Yes | There is no ad slot, no sponsored position and no affiliate link in the template. |
| Text-message edition | No | Not built. United States carrier registration has not been started. |
| Mobile app | No | Not built, on any platform. |
| Personalisation | No | Not built. Every subscriber receives an identical brief; there is no per-reader state beyond the address. |
| Web archive of past editions | No | Not built. Past editions are not published. |
| Licensed wire copy | No | Not built. An application to a wire service developer programme has not been submitted. |
| Third-party bias or factuality ratings | No | Not built. All lean labels are our own. Competitors that license independent ratings have a genuine advantage here. |
| Evening edition | No | Not built. A second send on days the story moves is listed under the proposed paid tier and does not exist. |
| Paid tier | No | Does not exist. No checkout, no card form, no payment processor is connected. A $14 per month tier appears on the pricing section as a published proposal only. |
Stated here because a capability page that only lists strengths is not a capability page. Ground News reads far more sources and licenses independent bias and factuality ratings, and ships an app and a browser extension. Tangle publishes original human editorial argument from multiple sides, with a podcast. 1440 has an audience in the millions and a multi-year record of consecutive editions. Morning Mosaic has none of those things today.
Every claim above is either observable in a delivered edition (delivery time, labels, links, section structure, the absence of images and ad slots) or is a stated absence that can be disproved by finding the feature. If any statement on this page is wrong, the correct response is to say so; it will be changed rather than defended.
